Ahir | Prem Joshua

Ahir | Prem Joshua

Ahir is one the latest albums of Prem Joshua. Sitar is once again dominant as in Mudra. But the beauty of the album lies in Joshua’s creativity in handling Sitar which is of different style, mood, and tempo compared to Mudra. Once again Joshua exhibits his genius in defining a new style in playing Sitar. More about this album and the other album Taranga is on the way. While Ahir is going to get very good points for its music composition, Tanaga is gambling with them and loses pitifully.

With the Artist | Prem Joshua

Prem Joshua is one of my favorite artists. I would like to post an exclusive interview with him. But that will take time. Meantime, I’d like to post some thoughts on Joshua, which gives a glimpse of who he is. So I have collected a few passages from different sites and am compiling it here.
What Prem Joshua feels about Ravi Shankar’s music?

Buddha Bar IV | TIEMPO Song Lyrics | MANUEL FRANJO

Buddha Bar IV | TIEMPO Song Lyrics | MANUEL FRANJO

tiempo, no dejes que el tiempo
te ayude a olvidar nuestro amor
a olvidar el calor
tiempo, detén el momento
las horas te alejan de mí
ya el silencio está aquí
por tu amor
el sol se ha alzado cada amanecer
las noches me han cubierto con placer
mis ojos descubrieron el color por tí
si te vas
mi cuerpo no podría ya respirar
mis dias se llenarían de soledad
ya nada importaría si no estas
sin tí
ya no hay tiempo
no queda más tiempo
escucha el dolor en mi voz
el silencio entre los dos
tiempo (x2)
ya no hay tiempo
me dicen que el tiempo
ayuda a olvidar el dolor
a olvidar el amor
tiempo (x3)

Destination Lounge | Ursula Rucker – Circe | Lyric

Destination Lounge | Ursula Rucker – Circe | Lyric

Mido, I like this lyric from Destination Lounge Album and thought I could post the lyric. Though I could get some shades of meaning from this lyric, and I hope there are more shades. You can share them with me.
(lyric begins….)
I’ve watched you for so long
I must have you
sirens have nothing on my song
my song is ageless and perfect
angels envy my song
you must be strong to resist this
I’ve seduced men you thought were myth
gods have murdered mortals over me
they died with my name on their lips
my taste on their tongues
my love is the only one you need
come rest your earthly …read more

Let’s do Bharata Jazzyam with Funky Guru

Let’s do Bharata Jazzyam with Funky Guru

It’s time for a dance after some sincere thoughts on love and music. Come on Mido! Let’s do Bharata Jazzyam. OOPS! does that sound alien to you? Probably. BharataNatiyam is one of the many traditional dances (natiyam) of India. But what does a new ager got to do with an aeon old dance form? Simple: give new thinking, give life. Remember what Einstein said, “Humanity is going to need a substantially new way of thinking if it is to survive.” (heya! Einstein never thought of Bharatanatiyam, Jazzyam or any dance for that matter. I quote him out of context.)
BharataJazzyam is …read more

The Winds Of Love: Romantic Air – Perfumed Breeze

The Winds Of Love: Romantic Air – Perfumed Breeze

Mido, for long, I wanted to write on the theme of love. Yesterday, when I browsed through my music library, Hariprasad Chaurasia’s ‘Elements: Wind’ caught hold of my eyes. I felt an irresistable urge to listen to this album and to share the same with you.
The album features 5 tracks and the track names are little longer yet meaningful:
1. The Breath Of Life: Cosmic Wind – Prana, The Breath Of Life Pranayama
2. The Winds Of Love: Romantic Air – Perfumed Breeze
3. The Winds Of Heaven: Windsongs; Maruts – The Sons Of Heaven
4. Spring Air: Sweet Breeze of Spring – …read more

I’m not moonstruck! I don’t dance about architecture

I’m not moonstruck! I don’t dance about architecture

Talking about music is like dancing about architecture.

So says Steve Martin. Mido, What shall I do? Shall I accept this? If so, I need to bid Adieu to this blog, sit lazily and think over the eternal question ‘What Next?’. I can’t. Neither can I accept that I’m “dancing about architecture.”
Just for a minute, imagine what would be if,
Everyone talks on talking
dances on dancing
writes on writing
composes music on music…..
If this is the world, I’ve a special name for it: it starts with A and ends with M and are inhabited by people who are honored by the name …read more

Osho Nataraj Mediatation | How do I love Thee? Let me count the ways

Osho Nataraj Mediatation | How do I love Thee? Let me count the ways

Mido, supposing you have a lover, how many ways do you express your love? Ya, I can understand your concern ‘why suppose?’, you ask…. It comes to my calculation: Zero-Infinity. Zero for my mudstone friend (anybody else welcome to join the list!) who doesn’t know to express his love and infinity for the playful lovers (include my alter ego here) who find abundance in their expression of love.
Let me strike the note now. How do a new ager like me love god? Let me use that word (god) for simplicity sake; you can call it lover, existence or nature …read more
