When I heard the Youtube version of “The Gates of Istanbul” I was more inspired and tempted to listen the other tracks of An Ancient Muse. The story of my pursuit of this album is here. Actually the title of the album is very suggestive of its content – a romantic celebration of the ancient times.

A few days before, while I was browing some new age stuff at emusic.com, I came across Parallel Dreams by Loreena McKennitt. I have heard and read about the sucess of her ethereal voice but never listened to it myself. But this time, I determined to buy her album and listen to it and it was a purchase that I don’t lament. My great expectation before listening to her album is indeed met after listening to her album and sure am going to buy a few more of her stuff to add to my music library.

For the past one week, one of the albums that I listened (I should say meditated upon) is Ram Dass’s Meditation on Gita. Dr. Richard Alpert a.k.a., Ram Dass reads select quotes from Bhagavad Gita with a beautiful veena and flute on the background. The meditative (call it hypnotic!) voice of Ram Dass mingles with the music and doesn’t create any feeling of listening to an audio discource. He gives much silence between words where the music fills and takes the listener deep into tranquil state of meditation.
