Wayne W. Dyer’s Do the Tao Now! Relaxing or Annoying?

Change Your Thoughts Meditation CD: Do the Tao Now!” is an audio CD by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer to which I am hooked up for the past few days. Being a well reputed author and speaker in the field of self-development, Dyer claims many bestsellers, audio and Video CDs. In this package he takes you to the world of Tao and also shows the power of repeating the word Tao as a mantra.

Change Your Thoughts Meditation CD: Do the Tao Now Wayne W. Dyer

While soft and drifting new age music in the background, Dyer pronounces some positive affirmations and chants the word Toa for 3 times at the end. This goes for 81 times which have received varied responses from his fans. I would like to share some diversified customer reviews from Amazon.

For

  • Dr. Dyer might not be the scholar on TAOISM, but his simple way of reading the TAO verses helps me understsand and IMPLEMENT them more in my life journey. Often, scholars make it too academics and thus make it too hard to understand and implement. I love Dr. Dyer’s K.I.S.S. principle.
  • I don’t see the success of this work as a negative for Taoism, as it is my hope the commercial success of this CD will lead more Western readers to look deeply into Taoism. If you enjoyed the pieces of the Tao used in Mr. Dyer’s work, I hope you’ll read more about Taoism.

Against

  • As the other reviewers warn, his nasal off key repeating of TAOoooo before each verse is totally annoying. If you’re looking for an instant headache, buy this CD. If not, save your money.
  • I am a fan of Dr. Dyer, and bought both the book and CD. The book is excellent, but the message gets lost in the CD because the “Ahhhhhhhh” mantra goes on for way, way, way too long. Much longer than practical for someone who is starting the process, and it is just a huge distraction. You end up spending all your time trying to match his lung capacity rather than listening to and absorbing the message.

You can give it a try Wayne W. Dyer’s Do the Tao Now!

The true Dao that can be spoken of is not the true Dao…

Any attempt to bring Daoism to the masses is already contrived.

I’d have to agree with all points made on this page.

As for the repeating of “TAOooooo,” I think a simple resonating “GONG” between each verse would be more effective for meditation.

I would like to share, however, that I found away around the distractive repeating of TAOoooo before each verse.

Dyer was kind enough to put each of the 81 verses at the beginning of each Track.

Therefore, if after each verse is read, you press your CD player’s “Forward to the Next Track” button, you will skip the “TAOOOOOOOO” noise and move to the next verse.

As this will become cumbersome during mediation, you can always do a one time re-recording of the CD using the above “fast forward” method.
