Saroja, my favorite lovely music, my mother

Saroja, my favorite lovely music, my mother

“Let’s do Bharata Jazzyam with Funky Guru” is my favorite selection from Yatra album by Prem Joshua which I shared in a series of posts on Prem Joshua. Following is another great piece by Prem Joshua title Saroja, which means lotus flower. (also my mother’s name, hence the title!)

Sensual ‘Krishna Radha’ Music from Rasa

Sensual ‘Krishna Radha’ Music from Rasa

One of the frequently visited blog post on New Age Vibe is The Bolo Hari Craze: Dance of Shakti to Dakini Lounge. I wrote it when I began blogging at New Age Vibe and it was about the track Bolo Hari by Prem Joshua which was first featured in his album Dance of Shakti and later remixed in many other albums. The beauty of the post is that it talked not just about the track but went a little behind the scene by narrating some gossiping stories about Radha, the eternal lover of Krishna.
In the same line of Bola …read more

Mudra remixes in Shiva Moon | Prem Joshua & Maneesh de Moor

Mudra remixes in Shiva Moon | Prem Joshua & Maneesh de Moor

Prem Joshua is back on my playlist after a long time… Maybe I listened to his albums too much for too long that I had kept his albums aside for sometime. Now he is again on my playlist. Many times I have said in my blog that his music album Mudra is one that I like so much and I rank it #1. And recently I began to love listening to his remix album Shiva Moon next to Mudra. Remixed by Maneesh de Moor, Shiva Moon contains some of the best remixes of Mudra, other compositions of Prem Joshua and …read more

Romantically Lethargic Rain | Rain Mood Celebration

Romantically Lethargic Rain | Rain Mood Celebration

That was a long gap— I was counting my mangoes (secretly). Mido, once again, I am on Prem joshua’s track on rain. But this rain is something very vague to be classified. It is Night Rain and the moods that this Rain shares are many.
Night Rain of the album the Sky Kisses the Earth gives a glimpse of a Romantic Rain, Lethargic Rain and the Tired Rain. Sitar and Flute, as mostly in albums of Prem Joshua, take up the stage and move the listeners to a mixture of moods. The track is on a slow tempo making it sound …read more

Will it Rain Mice, Bones or Mangoes? | Rain Mood Celebration Week

Will it Rain Mice, Bones or Mangoes? | Rain Mood Celebration Week

A Small (out of context) comedy…
Then there arose in the midst of the company a large, grave cat and looked upon them and said, “Brethren, pray ye; and when ye have prayed again and yet again, nothing doubting, verily then it shall rain mice.”
And when the dog heard this he laughed in his heart and turned from them saying, “O blind and foolish cats, has it not been written and have I not known and my fathers before me, that that which raineth for prayer and faith and supplication is not mice but bones.”
Enter me, “Foolish dogs and cats, that …read more

Morning Rain NYC | Fresh Rain | Rain Moods Celebration Week

Morning Rain NYC | Fresh Rain | Rain Moods Celebration Week

Prem Joshua seems to have a liking for Rains, and I, having a definite liking for Joshua, have got three of his rain tracks for our Rain Moods Celebrations Week. Today our Rain mood is a again Freshness, yet with a difference from earlier post of the same mood.
The track is Morning Rain NYC from the album No Goal But The Path. This track is different in the sense, it is a fresh “Western” Morning Rain, while the other post in the same mood is a hybrid of Eastern and Western Mornings. Virtually, Joshua of Mudra, Ahir, or Dance of …read more

Ahir | Prem Joshua

Ahir | Prem Joshua

Ahir is one the latest albums of Prem Joshua. Sitar is once again dominant as in Mudra. But the beauty of the album lies in Joshua’s creativity in handling Sitar which is of different style, mood, and tempo compared to Mudra. Once again Joshua exhibits his genius in defining a new style in playing Sitar. More about this album and the other album Taranga is on the way. While Ahir is going to get very good points for its music composition, Tanaga is gambling with them and loses pitifully.

With the Artist | Prem Joshua

Prem Joshua is one of my favorite artists. I would like to post an exclusive interview with him. But that will take time. Meantime, I’d like to post some thoughts on Joshua, which gives a glimpse of who he is. So I have collected a few passages from different sites and am compiling it here.
What Prem Joshua feels about Ravi Shankar’s music?

Let’s do Bharata Jazzyam with Funky Guru

Let’s do Bharata Jazzyam with Funky Guru

It’s time for a dance after some sincere thoughts on love and music. Come on Mido! Let’s do Bharata Jazzyam. OOPS! does that sound alien to you? Probably. BharataNatiyam is one of the many traditional dances (natiyam) of India. But what does a new ager got to do with an aeon old dance form? Simple: give new thinking, give life. Remember what Einstein said, “Humanity is going to need a substantially new way of thinking if it is to survive.” (heya! Einstein never thought of Bharatanatiyam, Jazzyam or any dance for that matter. I quote him out of context.)
BharataJazzyam is …read more

Bolo Hari Flavors–which one tastes good?

Bolo Hari Flavors–which one tastes good?

I’ve delayed enough time in posting about the Bolo Hari Remixes, so with no much ’small talks’, I’m straight to the topic.
Bolo Hari: Instant Pudding Remix by Dharma Dogz. Wow! the name sounds good isn’t it? Yes. But the track doesn’t, as the track has little to adore. Except for the name “Instant Pudding” the remix has nothing to attract my attention . Dogz pitiably calms down the passion of Bolo Hari (original) and nosily mixes up vocal, flute and percussion towards the middle of the track.
Bolo Hari: Bombay Lounge Remix by Maneesh de Moor is featured …read more
