British multi instrumental musician Mike Oldfield will release his next new age album Music of the Spheres on March 7th 2008 at the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao. As part of the launch event, Mike Oldfield will perform from his new album ‘Music of the Spheres’ accompanied by the Euskadi Symphonic Orchestra and the Bilbao Choral Society.

Mike Oldfield himself explains the core concept and behind-the-screen definition of his Music of the Spheres.

“In this world, everything has a pulse or a vibration. This sound is unique to each living or non living thing and in itself creates a music that no-one can hear. I believe that this has a very powerful resonance with, and a deep effect, on our lives. What would happen if we took this further and apply this to bigger things; more powerful things; like an entire solar system or galaxy say, what would that sound like?

Musica Universalis is the ancient theory that every celestial body, the sun, the moon and the stars has an inner music. This is a harmonic and mathematical concept derived from the movements of the planets in the solar system. The music created is inaudible to the human ear.

Music of the Spheres is my interpretation of this theory. Every planet and every star; even the whole universe has music within it that no-one can hear, this is what it would sound like if it was set free. This is Music of the Spheres.”

Hawaii Jazz Drummer Jumps to New Age Music

Adam Baron, an acclaimed Hawaii Jazz Drummer in The Honolulu Jazz Quartet, has released his debut album ‘Pangaea’ after his two-and-a-half years of musical meditation. Adam Baron renamed himself as Von Baron with which he is going to promote his New Age music.

When asked why he has chosen New Age music, the peace lover said “I have long had a passion to write music that brings our world closer together through tolerance and understanding and after 20 wonderful years in music, I felt it was time to pursue my dream.”

His music is described as New Age Music on Steroids. His refreshing album Pangaea is a perfect blend of New age music and Jazz melodies. ‘Live’ instruments and rhythms from several cultures (Brazil, the U.S., Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean) made his first solo album unique and special.

Though we feel Pangaea comes under New Age and World Music, Von Baron refers it to “World Age Music” (quite interesting!).

His solo release made me to wonder whether he is going to continue with Honolulu Jazz Quartet further. But Von Baron has cleared my confusion by saying “I’m just going to keep writing,playing and promoting.I believe in building a strong fan base and community around this music. The purpose of the music is really about promoting world unity and peace. The big picture goal for von Baron is to perform my music live with a full orchestra and a 13-piece band. I guess you could say that’s my musical dream. Of course, I’ll also continue to perform with the Honolulu Jazz Quartet.”

Coming Soon on Jan 8: Valentine by Jim Brickman

From now on we will have a new category called “Coming Soon” in Newagevibe. As its name suggest I will be focusing on New releases that is going to be on sale.
