Mohanraj flavors New Age Vibe

Mohanraj flavors New Age Vibe

Photobucket.
Dear Readers, my friend Mohanraj Thangarasu is joining with me on this blog and am very happy to invite and introduce him to my readers. Mohanraj and I are friends since childhood sharing a common music interest for more than 10 years. He is graduate in English literature doing his post-graduation in the same.
A quick intro of his music interest and his taste of language is already seen in his first post on hang. And as far as the other interesting bits about him, physically, he occupies much space on a seat than I (like the bulldog on the right) …read more

Happy Father’s Day! A Gift Idea for your Dad

Happy Father’s Day! A Gift Idea for your Dad

It’s Father’s Day, time to greet and thank your dad for all he has done for you. Let Father’s Day be your way to spread the message of love. You can convey your feelings for your father with special gift. Midos, I do remember a Jewish proverb: “When a father gives to his son, both laugh; when a son gives to his father, both cry.”
Presenting your dad with a light music CD will be a great idea. After a busy day he might feel difficult to sleep. A soft and soothing New Age Music can help clear his mind …read more

Music and Quality of Life

Music and Quality of Life

Music play a vital role in keeping our lives lively– no one can deny the fact. Balfour M. Mount, M.D of McGill University has written (very old yet beautiful) a post on The Healing Power of Music which I noticed a few days before. It’s interesting to see how he relates music with QOL.
The relationship of music to QOL and healing
Our QOL varies from moment to moment along a continuum that extends from suffering and anguish at one extreme to a sense of integrity and wholeness at the other. Healing involves a response shift toward the latter. What enables an …read more

Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia’ 70th Birthday

When it comes to the power of flute, there is none to rival Pandit Hariprasad. He is well known as the maestro of flute and Indian classical music. Panditji is celebrating his 70th Birthday on July 1st and his fans and students have started wishing him a month ahead.
Apart from the divine music he plays, what I like very much about him is his perception of music and the value he gives to music. These are best explained by his own words.
My Practice is my pooja. My Sargam and scales are my mantra. Power of God is what I try …read more

Sex Guru’s Meditation Techniques

Sex Guru’s Meditation Techniques

“Beloved” Osho is my guru for meditation. I love his speech, his guts and individuality. Earlier many months ago, I posted on the famous (notorious) talk on the usefulness of f**k and many should have had a bell laughter. Osho called himself ’spiritually incorrect mystic’ though he is the most correct of all masters we see today. Here is a video discourse of Vignan Bhairava Tantra (112 meditation techniques of ancient India).

PS: Calling OSHO ‘SEX GURU ‘ is no offense. He himself never felt so. It’s used only as an anchor point for delivering good message, as the master himself …read more

New thoughts on Old Anger

New thoughts on Old Anger

source: Flickr
I regularly read books of Osho and found this interesting passage on anger. I’m sharing this with you hoping it might help someone. After all who is not angry?
Anger is natural, because you have not created it; you are born with it, endowed by nature. And nature must have some use for it, otherwise it cannot be given to you. But the society is against it; it says suppress it. And when you suppress anger, many more things are suppressed by it, because everything is interrelated in your inner being. You cannot suppress one thing; you cannot express …read more

My Favorites Boiled Down to Two

My Favorites Boiled Down to Two

If you ask me to boil down my list of favorite tracks to just two, (why two? because Mike asked all of us just two!) I’d recommend these two tracks. For those who have been following the blog regularly, Karunesh needs no introduction nor does the track Bombay Pure, on whose remake by James Asher, I lamented long time ago. Shiva Manas Puja, the second track that I’m recommending, is a meditative chant of Lord Shiva that I listen to often.
Bombay Pure, from Album Global Spirit, by Karunesh
Shiva Manas Puja, from the album Sacred Chants of Shiva, by Banks …read more

I’m Listening to Sayama’s Harmony

I’m Listening to Sayama’s Harmony

As all my midos knew, I often engage myself listening to new age albums or else will be hunting for new CD online. To give something unique and special treat to my ears, I was googling for new albums with couple of dollars from my paypal account. I won’t bother burning my pockets if the album is worth throwing some light on new musical experience.
Without any serious search I found Sayama’s Harmony in my wish list. What took me so much to the album is the title “Harmony”. I neither knew artist Sayama nor listened to her music. Sheer strange …read more

Gandharva Veda keeps me engaged

Gandharva Veda keeps me engaged

Midos, sometime in the last week, my Director in my day job, introduced Gandharva Veda to me. Since that time, out of some curiosity or some inherent magnetic attraction of Gandharva Veda, I engage myself listening to it most of my free time. GV is all about listening to right music at right time. In the Ancient Vedic Science of India, Rishis envisioned music to balance the different energies in different times of a day and looked at music not as just a means of entertainment but also as tool to help mankind in inner travel. This is exactly …read more
