It was a fun experience which pushed him to record a second album which would eventually be known to the world as ‘Under the Bodhi Tree.’ The album picked up where the previous had left off, and Jonathan began to incorporate subtle vocals, thematic passages, intricate percussion, and signature complex meters to the music. The album was picked up by the UK’s New World Music label in 2005 and released world wide in 2006. Since then, ‘Under the Bodhi Tree’ has won the 2007 Independent Music Award for Best New Age Album and the 2007 New Age Album of the Year from the Coalition of Visionary Resources (COVR).

I would recommend “Under the Bodhi Tree” by Jonathan Still to all who loves meditation, soft calming music, and easy to listen music. This album would be great feel if “You Close your eyes and imagine you are sitting under the wonderful Bodhi tree with its heart shaped leaves and legendary divinity. The soft warm breeze of fluid instrumentation and exquisite delicacy soothes the worn and weary psyche. Jonathan Still invokes this scenario through the symbiosis of traditional instrumentation to reflect nature at its most expansive. The rise and fall of the arrangements will take you through nature to the metaphysical, from the tribal rouse to the sublime exotic, from the most traditional to the funkiest groove.”

The tracks would gradually take you to the world of calmness and simplicity so that you loose your daily stress and tension. Each and every tracks grips you to the next with stillness and momentum.

What a name! Don’t Wake Me Up. Ganga a.k.a Christian Ronn started his career with “I Dream About Trees” and this is his second album — a mix of ambient and electronic. Though I didnt like all the tracks in Don’t Wake Me Up, there are a lot of exceptionally good songs like the opening track Autumn, All I want is to Forget. Here is a short review of the album from the release notes.

Despite coming from a classical background,
Christian was heavily influenced by the
electronic scene of the early 90’s and a
passion for ethnic music. His incessant
thirst for knowledge even attracted him to
study instruments such as the sitar and the
tingklik!

In Ganga, he seems to have merged all his

This Bavaria born sitarist Al Gromer Khan recently added a new album in his discography. On April 25th Al Gromer Khan’s New album Negus has been released following his previous album Indian Music II – Tea Time Ragas which hit themarket on January 01, 2008. Artist khan derived his inspiration for music and his musical instrument sitar from master sitarist Imrat Khan, Gromer and Vilayat Khan. Fans can purchase Al Gromer Khan’s Negus in his site, hope I don’t find the album in other online shopping sites.

Khan says in his official site about his new album NEGUS , “The title NEGUS started as a tongue-in-cheek idea: Aid for the spiritually developing countries of the white man. I want this music to honour three principles: African culture, the sovereign and that of translating traditional and popular music onto a plane sublime. The latter has been my endeavour during the last thirty years: through a kind of abstraction and reducing the entertaining aspects, a more profound satisfaction in music should be achieved, similar to what Wassily Kandinsky did in visual arts a hundred years previously. I gathered that if I could draw bliss from this type of music there is bound to be others in a global context experiencing similarely.”

Music for Romance

I’m still young, passion in blood, and am not out dated (also open to any *new ideas*). Has any ‘New’ thought on Romance emerged out lately without my knowledge? Hopefully, none other than Louis Bank has invented any new meaning — a new kind of romance that is stripped of all romance, as seen in his music album.

….But Louis needs to know when he composes such irrelevant music for the theme the album (track) claims, it does drive away his listeners (I, for that matter, am already Out).

One of my friends (a dear one) visited my home the other day with his lover. To make their time pleasant, I accidentally played this album. While he was happily forgetting himself in her, I heard him shout on me ‘HellYouStopit’ and I ‘Stoppited.’

Bombay Pure

As a remix, it doesn’t add any beauty to the existing, rather kills it. The drum beats are hard and noisy. The vocal itself is unsuccessfully experimented by noisely repeating few lines. I checked my player for malfunctioning only to discover it was how the track is composed. Mido, I really feel much and write this post. I am writing to mourn the death of Bombay Pure in Asher’s hand. If you have heard this album, I suggest you to listen to Karunesh’s Bombay Pure

Many months have passed, since I made these very sarcastic comments. Looking once again on my shopping cart, there is plenty of dust that needs a good blow and I havent done justice. Here is my encounter list of albums that burned a hole in my pocket with no use. Wait until I shoot them one by one:

Music of the Spheres is my interpretation of this theory. Every planet and every star; even the whole universe has music within it that no-one can hear, this is what it would sound like if it was set free. This is Music of the Spheres.

To be frank, Music of Spheres means nothing new to me as does the theory behind it sounds: Old wine in new bottle. But still the old wine tastes good and so does Music of Spheres. But to listen to music that really goes by Mike’s theory, I’d better listen to Elements Series.

Let me make it clear, once again, my mockery is at the promise that the music makes: music of the universe, but not on the music as such. Music of Spheres is good to listen to. Let Mike make a second attempt to capture the soundless sound! (and stop calling this one by that name.)

Many months ago, Natasha Miren contacted me on email giving me an opportunity to listen to her music on myspace.com. I quickly listened to her music and as it happens with most other people, I listened to the track Nothern Lights (being the first track listed on myspace) fully and previewed the rest.

A few days before I visited her myspace profile and spend sometime listened to all her compositions fully and repeatedly a few. Of the 6 tracks listed, I liked 2 tracks so much that I feel myself compelled to comment on them.

Natasha’s compositions and an approximate number of plays recorded in myspace when I listened to them.

1. Northern Lights (around 5300 plays)
2. October (1400)
3. The Rocks (900)
4. Envy (400)
5. Haze (300)
6. Sparkle (70)

If you go by the stats to choose which one is the best of these, it proves that stats are always wrong. Of the six, I feel the best of all is the Sparkle, and the next in line is Northern Lights. So if you chance to visit Nathasha’s profile, don’t just listen to the default Nothern Lights, go down and make an effort to listen Sparkle.

I value Sparkle (and Northern Lights, but second in line) for the only reason when I close my eyes and listen to it, it gives me a vision while the rest just feeds any restless mind. I personally like the kind of music that doesn’t crave for getting attention but feels gentle like a breeze. Sparkle is music of such kind. I like its soothing nature, ambient quality and it does help me to look within.

Comparison is the disease of the mind which I cannot overcome altogether, though I know that each one is unique on its one. Sparkle is unique, in the same way, but if you like Zen breakfast by Karunesh, you will definetly like this too. It’s the only album that I can think of grouping Sparkle with. I wish Natasha brings more meditativeness to her music and adds more beauty and breeze. It doesnt matter for me if she cannot read her music notes (she claims it on her profile!), but as long as she brings life and subtle feelings to her music, she is as good as any great musician for me and I’ll be her fan. I wish her all success in her music career.

As a child she would tinker around on her grandmothers old piano but it wasnt until the age of 9 that Natasha finally asked for piano lessons. She was taught by ear and later found it almost impossible to pick up note-reading, often cheating by learning her piano homework from CDs at home and disregarding the sheet music entirely. Dreamcatcher is a compilation of “best of” Secret Garden’s first 3 albums: ‘White Stones’, ‘Songs From A Secret Garden’ and ‘Dawn Of A New Century’ plus one new “bonus” track. Though especially created for the UK market, Dreamcatcher is doubtlessly excellent piece of work for any one who is new to Secret Garden. Influenced by New age, Celtic, Norwegian folk and classical music, the album wrap us in a dreamy, arousing, soothing and relaxing mood.

When Lore of the Loom, Elan, Steps bring joy, dancing and fast-beat music, Passacaglia is a wonderful melody. Sure I can’t forget the tears that brought by Hymn to hope and Song From A Secret Garden. Typical sound of drums and guitar in ‘The Rap’ and chores in In Our Tears are remarkable. Dawn of a new century is like an opening note for a new dawn of a new day. Among the 19 tracks my favorite tracks are Nocturne (Eurovision winning entry), Moving, Dreamcatcher, Song From A Secret Garden and Passacaglia. As a whole, Dreamcatcher is perfect as well as immaculately beautiful for this spring.
