Sonu Niigaam performing live at Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia’s 70th birthday celebration

5 days passed since Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia’s 70th birthday. Living in Pondicherry in South India, it was not possible for me to attend the grand function in Mumbai (24hrs travel by train from my place) for Hariji’s bday. I hoped for some fans of Harji who have been to the function to upload the perforamance on youtube. At last here is a video from the function — Sonu Nigam, “India’s best playback singer or as the Golden Voice of Indipop”, performing live at Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia’s 70th birthday celebration. I wish Harji’s fans upload more video music …read more

I lost myself when I see them in Hang

I lost myself when I see them in Hang

Music has the magic of turning sadness into happiness, reality into dreamy, death to life (I have heard death-to-life Indian tales!). Often it happens… I found myself missed somewhere amidst New Age music, World, Celtic, Ambient, and Carnatic. I guess the title “I lost myself when I see them in Hang” may mean something dramatic if you are unaware of a relatively new musical Instrument “Hang”.
To my Enya and Yanni friendly ears, this very strange instrument become too close to heart as I do with Jim Brickman’s piano and Kitaro’s bells. Hang was created in Jan 2000 at Switzerland …read more

My Favorites Boiled Down to Two

My Favorites Boiled Down to Two

If you ask me to boil down my list of favorite tracks to just two, (why two? because Mike asked all of us just two!) I’d recommend these two tracks. For those who have been following the blog regularly, Karunesh needs no introduction nor does the track Bombay Pure, on whose remake by James Asher, I lamented long time ago. Shiva Manas Puja, the second track that I’m recommending, is a meditative chant of Lord Shiva that I listen to often.
Bombay Pure, from Album Global Spirit, by Karunesh
Shiva Manas Puja, from the album Sacred Chants of Shiva, by Banks …read more

Jean-Michel Jarre celebrates Oxygène’s 30th anniversary in Royal Albert Hall

Jean Michel Jarre has announced his very special performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall in celebration of the 30th anniversary of his album Oxygène. He will perform tracks from his masterpiece Oxygène in its entirety for his fans in London on Sunday 30th March 2008.

While speaking about the concert Jean says, “I’ve composed on extraordinary instruments, part of electronic music mythology as Stradivarius was for classical music or Fender Telecaster was for rock music.”
“I wanted the public to discover those and I am so excited about performing for the fans in London.”
This pioneers Electronic and New …read more

Where to move on after Buddha Bar?

Where to move on after Buddha Bar?

The answer is Buddha Attitude. If you like the Buddha Bar series, and want to listen to something that is as captivating as them, Buddha Attitude is one you are looking for. Definitely, this is not going to take on the same track as Buddha Bar (if it does that, I should be happy with Buddha Bar and not seek for this album), rather this album takes you to an altitude which you can appreciate well, if you are a chill and down-tempo fan.
Sensual and passionate, this music album is well chosen if you are playing it for …read more

Just Good Music | Claude Challe & Jean Challe

Just Good Music | Claude Challe & Jean Challe

Just Good Music

How do I feel this album?
Good Old Days lived again. And the title justifies the music.

Just Good Music, by Claude Challe and Jean Challe, is a trilogy that gives a music feel of the classic period to the modern day. The album contains 39 tracks in total and many of the tracks in this album remind me of the black-and-white days of the past (I mean the beginning of the movie era).
You can feel the European aura throughout this album and though I don’t understand the lyrics (and cannot make out whether it is French …read more

Buddha Bar is Good, SpaceSex is Wonderful

Buddha Bar is Good, SpaceSex is Wonderful

Buddha bar is good. No doubt about it. The countless fans and the very popularity of the series seen by the number of googlings for the name say all. I love listening to the Buddha Bar series for the cocktail experience of the world music. And if you love the Buddha Bar Series, then I’ll recommend another music album mixed by Claude Challe and his brother Jean-Marc Challe: SpaceSex (with no space between space and sex!!).
Equally good as Buddha Bar, SpaceSex is one the most exotic music albums. Unlike other lovemaking ambient music that I dealt earlier on …read more

Romantically Lethargic Rain | Rain Mood Celebration

Romantically Lethargic Rain | Rain Mood Celebration

That was a long gap— I was counting my mangoes (secretly). Mido, once again, I am on Prem joshua’s track on rain. But this rain is something very vague to be classified. It is Night Rain and the moods that this Rain shares are many.
Night Rain of the album the Sky Kisses the Earth gives a glimpse of a Romantic Rain, Lethargic Rain and the Tired Rain. Sitar and Flute, as mostly in albums of Prem Joshua, take up the stage and move the listeners to a mixture of moods. The track is on a slow tempo making it sound …read more

Tearful Rain | Joy of Life | Rain Moods Celebration Week

Having written upon a few posts on Fresh mood of rain, Lostinmusic hopes to juxtapose with a few sad moods of rain. Return of the Rains by Karunesh is a heart-drowning track and is our track of the day.
Chaplin once said he cries in rain so that no one seems him crying (a painful remark by a person who made the world laugh). But rain not only masks your tears but also soothes your heart. The best way to dissolve a dumb-struck heart is to drench yourself in rain (Mido! don’t laugh at me; I know I sound nuts but …read more

Morning Rain NYC | Fresh Rain | Rain Moods Celebration Week

Morning Rain NYC | Fresh Rain | Rain Moods Celebration Week

Prem Joshua seems to have a liking for Rains, and I, having a definite liking for Joshua, have got three of his rain tracks for our Rain Moods Celebrations Week. Today our Rain mood is a again Freshness, yet with a difference from earlier post of the same mood.
The track is Morning Rain NYC from the album No Goal But The Path. This track is different in the sense, it is a fresh “Western” Morning Rain, while the other post in the same mood is a hybrid of Eastern and Western Mornings. Virtually, Joshua of Mudra, Ahir, or Dance of …read more
