To my Enya and Yanni friendly ears, this very strange instrument become too close to heart as I do with Jim Brickman’s piano and Kitaro’s bells. Hang was created in Jan 2000 at Switzerland by Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer of the PANArt Company. Hang is generally placed in the lap and played using fingers to produce different sounds with each and every stroke.

I would call it a hybrid variety of steel drum, gamelan, and gong. But the note can resemble like a Harp, Bells, harmonically tuned Steelpans, Ghatam, Tabala and Veena. I can’t imagine how ‘two hemispherical steel shells’ can make such a beautiful, soft, and soothing music. I was completely lost in the way the instrument is played and by the music out of it (Youtube has plenty of videos). Though there are 5000 Hang players worldwide, we have only 2 hang makers so orders are taken in limited basis. With the growing popularity, Hang would probably set out a new musical experience and harmony around us.

The answer is Buddha Attitude. If you like the Buddha Bar series, and want to listen to something that is as captivating as them, Buddha Attitude is one you are looking for. Definitely, this is not going to take on the same track as Buddha Bar (if it does that, I should be happy with Buddha Bar and not seek for this album), rather this album takes you to an altitude which you can appreciate well, if you are a chill and down-tempo fan.

Sensual and passionate, this music album is well chosen if you are playing it for a dinner or any mellow moment. I never get bored listening to this album listening twice or thrice at a time and never felt the Shakespearian ‘familiarity breeds contempt’. Buddha Attitude takes you to Buddha Altitude. You will not repent buying this album (provided you have down-tempo ears) as you may never have the ‘skip-this-track’ feel.

How do I feel this album?

Good Old Days lived again. And the title justifies the music.

Just Good Music, by Claude Challe and Jean Challe, is a trilogy that gives a music feel of the classic period to the modern day. The album contains 39 tracks in total and many of the tracks in this album remind me of the black-and-white days of the past (I mean the beginning of the movie era).

You can feel the European aura throughout this album and though I don’t understand the lyrics (and cannot make out whether it is French or Spanish or Italian or some other) the music gives me a soothing flashback feel. Just Good Music gives a wide variety of oldies and contemporary music and it is one of the best of Challe Bros. They seem to know how the chill music needs to be.

Buddha bar is good. No doubt about it. The countless fans and the very popularity of the series seen by the number of googlings for the name say all. I love listening to the Buddha Bar series for the cocktail experience of the world music. And if you love the Buddha Bar Series, then I’ll recommend another music album mixed by Claude Challe and his brother Jean-Marc Challe: SpaceSex (with no space between space and sex!!).

Equally good as Buddha Bar, SpaceSex is one the most exotic music albums. Unlike other lovemaking ambient music that I dealt earlier on my blog posts, this one is western. Lyric plays as much role as the music in this album that makes it sexy. Though you may already own some of the tracks in this album, the whole experience of listening to the best of sexy music in a single album is worth spending. I love SpaceSex (I mean the music album, nothing else!!)

Night Rain of the album the Sky Kisses the Earth gives a glimpse of a Romantic Rain, Lethargic Rain and the Tired Rain. Sitar and Flute, as mostly in albums of Prem Joshua, take up the stage and move the listeners to a mixture of moods. The track is on a slow tempo making it sound like a  lethargic pleasure of waking up late in the morning and at times sounds like a romantic exchange of lovers on a rainy night.

Mido, I like this track so much that, I never miss an opportunity to  listen to this track on a rainy night. It’s such a pleasure to listen to! I recommend this track for my Midos who like to listen to some multi-shade romantic track.

Chaplin once said he cries in rain so that no one seems him crying (a painful remark by a person who made the world laugh). But rain not only masks your tears but also soothes your heart. The best way to dissolve a dumb-struck heart is to drench yourself in rain (Mido! don’t laugh at me; I know I sound nuts but still…) and let the rain wash your tears. I find Return of the Rains reflecting this mood and nature of rain.

This track is one of the 8 tracks of the Joy of Life (ya Mido, dont you sense some irony here; I mean a sad mood rain in ‘Joy’ of life?. It happens!) Dominant instruments of the track are string and flute and they leave a lasting impression. If you ever wondered at what the song of the Solitary Reaper sounds like (oh! that crazy Wordsworth was too much obsessed with her music) you could listen to this song.

The track is Morning Rain NYC from the album No Goal But The Path. This track is different in the sense, it is a fresh “Western” Morning Rain, while the other post in the same mood is a hybrid of Eastern and Western Mornings. Virtually, Joshua of Mudra, Ahir, or Dance of Sakthi is “absent” in this track (on the album as such) for this is the very first music album of his career (and much of the then Joshua traveled so far to become what is the Joshua seen now).

Despite these, Morning Rain NYC has a place in our Rain Mood Celebration for he musicrizes (Mido, a crazy thought thought not to write picturizes) a beautiful morning rain in guitar and Sax ( I always thought, earlier, none other than flute can best musicrize a morning Scene).

If you are a Sax and guitar lover (and not a flute lover) then Morning Rain NYC takes up the place of Rain of Ekatman. You can sense a little water dripping, too, if you are very receptive to the music (oh don’t fear, it wont drench you anyway, its all hallucination! ).
