“Mantras for my children…and yours: Sanskrit chants to calm active children,” is a mantra meditation cd produced by stay-at-home mother, Nina Patel, to help calm and relax active children by means of chanting mantras. Her interest in producing the mantra cd came about by chance. She is Reiki Healer and practices Yoga, Tai Chi and Dahn Mu Do.

“I noticed my children became more relaxed as they heard me chant mantras and affirmations in the morning, a ritual that I practice for personal growth,” says Nina who goes by the artist name Mantra Mom. “So, I started chanting mantras with my children on our way to school to center them for the day and before bedtime to ease them to sleep. I also chanted mantras to soothe them during times of anxiousness. What I eventually found was that chanting became a great emotional release for my children when they had difficulty articulating their feelings,” she adds.

In the press release it is said that “Unlike any other mantra cd on the market, the mantras are performed like a rap to a backdrop of hip-hop music, making chanting fun and easy for children of today’s generation. The tracks are also purposefully arranged to slowly ease the child to a calm meditative state by gradually moving from hip-hop to moody new age music.”

This 10 track album was released on May 8th and it’s 10% of the sales would go to Vibha, a non-profit organization that helps builds schools and provide healthcare for underprivileged children in India. Awesome relaxing CD I absolutely love this CD. I purchased two- one for myself and one for my mom. We both listen to it to fall asleep at night. I also recommended it to my massage therapist who practices reiki.

Very boring I am a Reiki master practitioner and have my own business and am always looking for complementary music for my sessions. This CD may be relaxing but it is not uplifting or “energy-friendly”. To me, it seemed as if the producers of the CD didn’t put any effort into creating it, and just wanted to get it into the energy market.

I can still enjoy it as I listen to it everyday and not get tired of it. It takes my clients (and me) into a deeply relaxed state. The continous repetition of the simple theme and harmonies contribute to gentle and progressive slowing down of the body and mind into a meditative state.

If You are familiar with New age music scene then you must have heard Gandalf who grounds his music in the beauty of nature and in the mysteries of various cultures. This Austrian born artist knows the magic of describing nature in his intimate and tender music. Gandalf’s Lotus Land is a beautiful blend of instrumental acoustic and electronic music which is relaxing and inspiring. Gandalf got inspiration for this disc when he was reading Dante’s -Divine Comedy . As I listened to the album I feel like drifted to the land of lotus that brings peace and meditative silence around me as well as in me.

I recommend Lotus Land for yoga, for massage, for meditation and for all healing practices. When your heading is puffing out with stress and tension then Gandalf’s Lotus Land has the vibration of relaxing and cooling one’s heart.

• Dr. Dyer might not be the scholar on TAOISM, but his simple way of reading the TAO verses helps me understsand and IMPLEMENT them more in my life journey. Often, scholars make it too academics and thus make it too hard to understand and implement. I love Dr. Dyer’s K.I.S.S. principle.
• I don’t see the success of this work as a negative for Taoism, as it is my hope the commercial success of this CD will lead more Western readers to look deeply into Taoism. If you enjoyed the pieces of the Tao used in Mr. Dyer’s work, I hope you’ll read more about Taoism.

• As the other reviewers warn, his nasal off key repeating of TAOoooo before each verse is totally annoying. If you’re looking for an instant headache, buy this CD. If not, save your money.
• I am a fan of Dr. Dyer, and bought both the book and CD. The book is excellent, but the message gets lost in the CD because the “Ahhhhhhhh” mantra goes on for way, way, way too long. Much longer than practical for someone who is starting the process, and it is just a huge distraction. You end up spending all your time trying to match his lung capacity rather than listening to and absorbing the message.
