Name of the Artist: Terry Oldfield
A Bit of Bio: Born in London, England in 1949 to an Irish mother and an English Father. Inspired by the folk clubs of UK in the late 60s and early 70s, especially by Leonard Cohen, Bert Jansch, John Renbourne, and Dylan, he stepped up to form a band called “Barefoot” with his brother Mike.
Terry, who quit his schooling at 16, has started his musical journey as a roadie for bands like Byrds, which led him to pick up his passionate instrument the flute in the Greek island of Hydra. It’s interesting to know that Terry Oldfield only had his formal music education in Agra, India and learnt to play Tablas apart from his favorite flute.
His music career actually began when BBC approached him to pen music for ‘Great Railway Journeys of the World’. Since then he has received greater exposure and has released solo albums. No surprise, Terry Oldfield is a brother of famous music composers and performers Mike Oldfield and Sally Oldfield.
Best Known For: Films & TV soundtrack works including Emmy award nominated National Geographic specials: ‘Land of the Tiger’ and ‘Twilight of the Dream Time.’ Terry has received a BAFTA nomination for the BBC series ‘Kingdom of the Ice Bear’ and also worked on Meerkats United which was voted as ‘Best Wildlife Film Ever’.

Latest News: His Bansuri flute album “Labyrinth” has been nominated for “Best Ambient Album” in 2007 NAR LifeStyle Music Award. Winners will be announced on March 8, 2008.
Next Performance: Recently Terry and his wife Sorava performed on March 01, 2008 in Holy Name School Hall, Bridge St, Toowoomba. And also had a Resonance Workshop on March 2. We need to check out further in his site for his next performance.
