I am one among many who love Celtic Woman girls and their Celtic Woman: A New Journey Album. When I played the songs I am completely blown away by the angelic and melodic nature of the music. The soft, soothing and hypnotizing voice of Chloe, Orla, Lisa, Meav, and Hayley are so moving and alluring when orchestral background and chorus blend with traditional instruments.

These Irish folks are filled with extraordinary talent and have typical touch in evoking ones deep feelings by their awesome music. Some tracks like ‘The Sky And The Dawn And The Sun’, ‘The Prayer’, ‘Carrickfergus’ and ‘Granuaile’s Dance’ are really excellent and are my favorites. I played them over and over. Hope you enjoy the same!

“Return To Innocence” by Enigma (my favorite artist) is a beautiful piece of New Age Ambience. My favorite is “Lily Was Here” by Dave Stewart which is a perfect melody with soothing saxophone and lite accoustic guitars. I would say Pure Moods is a pop mixed semi-new age album that pulsate your pure moods from all plains. With its diversity of songs Pure Moods would take you to the world of innocence and romanticism. And I say it’s worth every penny!

Seas has lived through quarter of my life and will increasingly live further. Starting with the track Deep Blue, the album moves towards the shore rather than deep sea. Deep Blue is serene, undisturbed, reflecting the self-same nature of Seas beyond shores. Anyone listening to this track(or the album as a whole) cannot forget the impression that bamboo flute makes. It lives in my heart as a treasureable memory. How do you expect the next track to be, Mido? more serene? If it is, then i’m sure you’d be rather listening to my snoring this time (did I forget to tell you? I do that exercise when I listen to Al Gromer Khan’s albums)

The second track is Coastal Garba, a very festival mood track tuned for a Garba dance. Garba is more like the western social dance taking its roots in Gujarat, India and is more spiritually connected. Dancers go round a focal structure (mostly idol of Amba, goddess, or a lamp) clapping their hands at regular interval. Coastal Garba imitates this scenario. Like the painless, strainless dance movements, the rhythm goes smooth, less stressful, more relaxed, let-go. I label this track D2O! (pardon me, Chem was hammered too much into head in my schooldays… I mean the track is a Dancing gas).

More than 15 years have passed since Seas was first released. Still it’s one of the best selling new age albums. Music Today, recording label, calls it “multi-platinum best-selling album.” For all this, and for my personal liking, I’m writing on his album in a series. Rest of the tracks will be covered in other posts. On my part, I make sure that I don’t sing you a lullaby in this series (like, next only to my mother, Al Gromer Khan does to me when I listen to him) nor drive you crazy (as Trilok Gurtu does often with his drums, tempting me to play next.)

Mido, each of these tracks is a treasure in music expression, and as I said earlier, I’m interested in writing about the theme of love. So, it’s the 2nd track that I’m going to write on today.

Romantic Air is very close to a Love Epic in 14.20 min. It nourishes the heart with wordless tales of love. For about five minutes, a single flute dominates the track. After a meaningful silence for a few seconds, music from two flutes embrace each other as if they are inseparable lovers.

(dont mind a little philosophy here, Mido! I’m not taking any digression.)
In love there are two states– a state full of questions and the state full of answers. The latter is the maturity of love where answers alone exist. It’s not that you have found answers to your questions, it’s that you’ve dropped your questions, feeling them unnecessary. There are no more the every-lover-asking questions like “do you love me?” “will you be with me forever?” etc… Each lover feels the love of the other unquestioning and feel blissful. It’s this feeling of blissful love that this track invokes in my heart. Music that invokes the maturity of love just by listening.

It’s very close to a love epic, I said earlier. Yes, very close and yet not an epic, for the track has some interludes in Veena which doesn’t mix up well with flute. The strong vibration of Veena’s string pitiably distorts the romancing flutes. A Sitar would be better its place or at least a less pronouncing Veena.

Apart from this little ‘noise’, I felt the track very lovable that I wish my Mido listen to it and enjoy the experience.
